Meaning “In” Life

A very simple thought, that isn’t so simple.

Can our purpose be to find meaning in our life instead of focusing on the existential struggle to find the meaning of our life?

It seems more manageable and realistic to find meaning in my life because it is tied to the things I do. It means something to be a husband, a father, a teacher, a veteran, and a counselor. It means something to shoot my bow and raise my gardens. It means something when I call a friend. It means something when I write.

In all of the meaning that is nested into the things we do, I think we can start to find purpose. Not the purpose of life… but the purpose in our lives.

Big thank you to Dr. John Veraeke for his lectures on Intelligence, Rationality, Wisdom and Spirituality that helped seed these ideas in my mind.
