The Stories We Tell

Sometimes it is a useful exercise to recount the story of our life, but it can also be an irritating bore. The key to being a good story teller is often found by zeroing  in the moral of the story.

A good story teaches and informs. It unpacks the lessons of the past and brings them into sharp focus and relevance for the present moment.

We can use the stories of our past experiences as metaphors that can help others understand the world and their place in it. This allows us to walk with others on their path and maybe help them along for a bit.

Think about the story of your life for a moment. What lessons have you learned along the way? What is that hard fought knowledge and wisdom you have gained from experience?

Now, take a movement to think about the stories who were shared by your teachers, mentors, coaches, family, and friends that have shaped your life.

Our lives are a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom. The stories we share are the gifts we leave behind for others.
